Application Scientist

R&D Team – Paris, Île-de-France, France - Full-time

The job

We are seeking an Application Scientist to join us in our technology development efforts, working with our customers to understand their technical needs and translate them to the R&D teams. As part of the R&D team, you will play a key role in our research and development efforts, collaborating closely with engineering, business and leadership teams as well as customers to drive project success.

Responsibilities:

As an Application Scientist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and design architectures for the interconnection of quantum processors and multi-core quantum computing based on customer’s needs.

  • Conducting in-depth research and studies on the application and integration of various qubit modalities eg. neutral atoms, superconducting qubits, photonic qubits or ion systems within quantum computing architectures.

  • Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to design and test distributed computing architectures, ensuring the seamless integration of these technologies to enhance system performance and scalability.

  • Analyzing data and presenting findings, both internally to guide the development process and externally at  scientific conferences and in scholarly publications.

  • Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in quantum computing, specifically in the areas of neutral atoms, ions, superconductors, or photonics, to inform our business and research directions and technology development strategies.

  • Engaging with partners and customers to foster collaborations and explore new applications for our quantum computing technologies.

  • Providing technical expertise and support to our hardware and algorithm teams, contributing to the translation of research findings into commercial products.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A PhD in Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related field, with a strong focus on quantum computing technologies.

  • Demonstrated expertise in quantum information science, particularly in the areas of neutral atom systems, ion systems, superconducting qubits, or photonic quantum computing.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in both written and spoken English. The ability to communicate technical information to non-expert audiences is essential.

  • Familiarity with programming languages and software used in quantum computing research, such as Python or similar, is desirable.
