AMO Physicist – Neutral-Atom Quantum Systems and Optical Tweezers

The Job

As part of the Next-Generation Technology Team in Paris, you will play a key role in the development of our next-generation optical tweezer platforms for quantum networking applications. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and integration of neutral-atom hardware systems, spanning atom trapping, transport, manipulation, and their deployment within neutral-atom quantum processing units. Working closely with engineers and scientists, you will develop and characterize cutting-edge quantum devices that form the core of Welinq's industry-grade quantum networking products.

As an AMO physicist, your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Collaborating with engineers to design and optimize our qubit-photon interface  
  • Leading the develpment, assembly, and testing of optical tweezers and quantum hardware systems
  • Conducting experimental research and data analysis to evaluate the performance and efficiency of quantum hardware systems
  • Staying up to date with the latest advances in quantum technologies, AMO physics, and neutral-atom platforms, contributing to Welinq's knowledge base

Required qualifications

  • PhD in atomic physics/quantum optics, with a focus on AMO physics and optical tweezers
  • Strong background in quantum optics and atomic physics
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++ for data analysis, simulation, and automation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex ideas and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • English professional proficiency

Required Experiences

  • Experience in atom trapping, optical tweezers and single atom imaging techniques;
  • Experience in coherent atomic state preparation in optical traps;
  • Experience in atom displacement, atomic arrays preparation and reconfiguration;
