Senior Electronics Engineer

Engineering and System Integration Team, Paris, Île-de-France, France - Full-time

The job

As part of the Engineering and System Integration Team in Paris, you will play a key role in the development of Welinq’s hardware technologies, side by side with our team of physicists and engineers. In the role of Senior Electronic Engineer, you will contribute your experience spanning precision analog measurement and analog and digital control. With your strong background in designing, testing, and implementing low-noise analog and mixed-signal circuits you will drive the development of the electronic control architecture for Welinq’s industry-grade quantum memory product. As a Senior Electronic Engineer, you will join our growing R&D team to:

  • Design, implement and test low-noise analog and digital acquisition and control systems.
  • Participate actively in the integration of prototypes and their maintenance.
  • Analyze the performances of the hardware and specify control tests.
  • Study and manage compliance with applicable standards of cold-atom technology and specify improvements of the systems definitions.
  • Ensure consistency within the R&D projects of Welinq and compile updated system specifications with other entities of the company.

Required qualifications and Experience

  • MSc, Engineering degree, or higher in Electronic Engineering/Physics.
  • 5+ years industry or academic experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience with Altium, OrCAD, Eagle, KiCad, or similar design environments.
  • Self-motivated, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with people of all disciplines on complex projects and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred qualifications and Experience

(at least 4 of these qualifications should be filled)

  • 8+ years combined academic + industry experience, including 3+ years in industry.
  • Strong expertise in low-noise ADC/DAC data acquisition and analog control systems.
  • Experience designing circuits for digitally controlling and acquiring data from sensitive low-noise analog devices.
  • Experience designing analog interfaces between custom instruments and FPGA-based digital control systems.
  • Experience designing low-noise current sources.
  • Familiarity with DSP techniques.
  • Knowledge of common communication protocols (Ethernet, USB, SPI, etc).
  • Experience with popular logic families (CMOS, TTL) and differential signaling.
  • Familiarity with principles of optics/photonics and common relevant components (photodiodes, modulators, lasers, fiber components).
  • Experience in FPGA design and development. Proficiency in VHDL or Verilog programming languages is a plus.
  • Experience with RF analog testing equipment.
  • Experience with liaising with suppliers and custom PCB production and assembly.
